A great piece of gear. Classic. So easy to use and at the same time powerfull. I use it to sequence all my tracks. Only thing that I wish it had is the possibility to toggle the track mutes so that you could choose them to either mute the tracks immediately or at the end of the sequence. other than that, perfect.

I love my MMT-8, best sequencer i've used. The buttons were really in a bad way, and so i took some advice from a comment on this website and cleaned the contacts with an eraser, now they work at a feather's touch (almost, maybe a really heavy feather).
Try it too if you're having that problem, it's a very cheap way to solve it. Might not work for everyone though. Only attempt it if you're confident at taking things apart. It isn't difficult, but i'd advise caution. Don't touch anything you're not sure about. The buttons are on the front panel, which is connected by three ribbon cables, take them out, noting which way round they go, unscrew the button circuit, rub the eraser on all the square spiral shaped contacts, make sure the rubber bits on the back of your buttons don't have any crap on them, put it back together, and everything should be hunky dory. I'd recommend you save your sequences beforehand, to tape or sysex dump, just in case anything goes wrong.

This is what made me know it was ok to make sequenced music. To this day I can't find a sequencer has well rounded as the small notebook shaped midi multi-track 8.

I got one of these for 65quid to use with my AN200 live (as the AN200 sequencer is rubbish). It works pretty well, but not perfectly, It crashes when all 8 tracks are on in loop mode but only if one of the tracks is empty. not a major problem but quite annoying when it happens in the middle of a groove.
nice and simple to use, and perfect for live stuff. I'm thinking about getting another one to use with a sampler live. I'd definatly recomend it coz it's so cheep and usefull.

I have MMt8 1.10 and I never had it crashed on me... I use it to drive my Obie-12 and sometimes for alternative sequences for my other toys in a live setup... oh and also a midi splitter.(A life saver!) I plan on getting another one just for its fuctionality... I have rigged one of my keyb stands so that the MMT-8 is tilted at an angle right above my Obie-12... Perfect combo... I ended up sequencing part 2 using Track 1;2;3 part 3 Track 4;5;6 and part 4 Track 7;8 and I play track 1 using the Obies Internal sequencer/ arpeggio/ or keys... I found this setup very very helpful and helps fuel createivaty...
With all these new gadgets coming from Alesis such as 14 Mod Effects, QS6.2/8.2, M1 mkII's, new effects rack, performance fx/synth, and Andy, It's a wonder why they didn't show us a MMT-16... That wouldv'e been a perfect buddie for the Andy... ALESIS ARE YOU LISTENING!?! Well I hope we see MMT-16 at NAMM 2004 oh I cant wait! :) (ok I'm just dreaming)
Well anyway, I did have fuzzy contacts when I got the unit... Swabs do work and for the dude who wanted the Manual... they got one at www.MMT8.net in pdf and html format.
And kudos to Martin G, I agree with you 100%, why are so many people sucked into Puter synth/sequencing... I have made few songs back in the day using puter, but I was never satisfies with my creations... mostly because I never played it... Puter sequencing is a lost cause... sure you can get some dopey ass beats and stuff, but you loose some integraty after a while... Save money and start buying toys!...
